What about books. When I read books of American writers I hardly use dictionary. But reading of British books sometimes is a kind of challenge For example I cannot even compare Stephen King with Edgar Allan Poe, or, when I read Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods” it just was easy, but when I read Douglas Adams’ “Dirk Gently Holistic Agency” – it was a kind of complication to me Easy reading requires continuous practice

This is so true... I remember trying to read "A Tale of Two Cities" by Dickens without a dictionary

Same here... This is my home now. I feel like a foreigner when I go back to Kharkov... Maybe because things are rapidly changing there and I can't keep up. Because of that a lot of funny incidents happened to me there while I was visiting

Here is what I think, if I may. The way you think people think about you is largely based on the way you think about yourself. If you are uncomfortable to some degree, feel uneasy or alienated, you start actually believe that it’s the feelings of others.
On the contrary to that, if you are feel good about yourself, in balance and your life have some meaning, then you don’t give a flying crap about what and who think about you.
P.S. By “you” I didn’t mean You personally.

No like a foreigner in a bad sense. I gave my blood to this country, when I did not have to . Even did some of its "dirty " work . It was a job , nothing pesonal. What I mean is when I am among many suburban americans, I feel like I am not one of them. This is NOT to say that if I go to Kharkov (after 30 years!) I will feel at home. The guy from NY is right. When I am ,say in the central Chicago , I feel much, much less of a foreigner that somehwere near Fort Brag NC. Also, somehow I never got to hang out with any people from the former USSR. Till very , very recenly. I must say, I do like it. You are one good company.

I understand You . I guess , when was working with the armed forces I always felt like I had be better than anyone else because I was from there. When You get to the jump school. Its really tough if You a foreigner and You made it . 70% fail. One time one asshole instructor made us do push ups in full gear. It was 105 degrees. Everyone was done , he said, " I heard Your people are tough, I heard You are tough, Get down for another set and then another. I did . He never talked to me this way again. But still that was not cool. He was a real jerk. I think.

I think that's because American literature is not so rich and... erm... old as English and, maybe, the traditions of American are different from European literature, I think Because I've read a lot of English authors, from Shakespeare to, say, Rowling and, again, I wasn't able to read an American book Maybe I'll try when read a few books I've got to read next/ Actually, I bought Jules Verne's Around the World In Eighty Days in English , so I'll test the effect

Magi's Will is an unpredictable state of mind when mage acts. It is an art to follow that will. It is said that the result of finishing that way can be compared with buddhist's nirvana+nietzche's ubermench. But Crowley never bothered himself to transcribe to "common" language not the principles of the way nor the theoretical result. He died before his Job were done.

It might sound like not a long time but I left Kharkov 5,5 years ago. During this time Ukraine has changed a lot and it's not the same I left it anymore...
