This is fucking huge number, I think. You can use 4000 or 5000 words, and people will understand you. Just take a look at children. They don't know tens of thousands of words, but they can communicate without any problems.

If you want to say something, you can do it in 100500 different ways. Using 100 or 10 000 words. The main point here - people can understand what do you want from them. It will be enough, I think. If you don't live in English speaking country of course.
