from_nl, for the sake of objectivity, could you please comment on the fact that there are quite some people in the Netherlands, who are not satisfied with the EU and the expenses it brings (consider the recent EU elections in May), and on the fact that joining the EU by the new members was paired with a great economic shock for these countries, which consequences lay down heavily on the shoulders of their citizens. Many of these countries (Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia etc) are still doing rather poorly in the economic sense, and many of their citizens emigrate to richer EU countries in search for jobs and a better life.
Don't get me wrong. I support the democractic norms of values of the EU completely, as well as the idea of building bridges between nations, but, economically speaking, whether or not joining the EU would bring a long-term advantage to Ukraine is a BIG question to me. Unfortunately, Ukraine does not have much of a choice now...
