"Hello out there and another Happy Friday to you all!
You already know how important Woodstock was for capturing the spirit of a generation. You're probably also already aware that this weekend marks its 40th anniversary. We've been celebrating the anniversary this week by highlighting concerts from the artists that helped make it such a special event. We continue that celebration this weekend with featured concerts from Jimi Hendrix and The Band, and a featured download from Johnny Winter.
We also want to bring your attention to interviews with people sharing their memories of, and insights into, the festival. Give a listen to chats with Carlos Santana (with a beautiful telling of his experiencing the Woodstock scene), Marty Balin (including a classic story of Janis Joplin winning a card game to decide who would perform when), Joe Cocker, Graham Nash and Abbie Hoffman (who talks about the politics of the event and the film that followed).
Speaking of movies, Ang Lee directed one called Taking Woodstock for Focus Features that comes out on August 28th. Watch the trailer and listen to select tunes from Woodstock artists on this Tribute to Woodstock playlist, and you'll be as excited as we are to see it.
Thanks for listening and have a wonderful Woodstock weekend!
Taking Woodstock In theatres August 28thBased upon the book of the same name, follows the true life story of Elliot Tiber (played by Demetri Martin), an aspiring Greenwich Village interior designer whose parents owned a small motel in Upstate New York and, at the time, held the only musical festival permit in the entire town of Bethel, New York. Tiber offered both the Catskills motel and the permit to the Woodstock Festival’s organizers."
Если в двух словах, скоро появится художественный фильм к 40-летию фестиваля на Вудстоке.
